Instead of using paper evaluations forms to handle your hockey tryout evaluations, use Skillshark.net to quickly and easily gather your evaluation data on a mobile device or tablet and instantly upload the information to the server. This will allow coaches for your sport to quickly be able to rank athletes and create teams based on their results and positions.

Basic Evaluations for hockey are usually done for younger athletes or programs that don’t get into a lot of detail on athlete mechanics. It will keep the metrics of the athletes simple and less complicated.

Advanced Evaluations for hockey are executed by coaches and programs for more developed athletes who are capable of executing deeper levels of mechanics if required.

Typical steps when conducting an athlete evaluation are:
– Ensure all athletes receive unique numbers. Bib colors are often used during scrimmages, identifying specific positions , or tiering athletes during an evaluation.
– Perform an athlete role call at the beginning so that evaluators can mark any missing athletes in the Skillshark app to ensure no scores will be given to an athlete by accident who is not there.
– When performing drills ensure evaluators get enough time to look at each athlete (ie. Hitting 3-4 consecutive balls to a baseball infielder before proceeding to the next).
